The Main and Clinton area is the psychological epicenter of the Greater Rochester region, and is dominated by three major office and retail properties.
One of them, Midtown Plaza was among the first indoor shopping centers in the nation when it was built in the early 1960s. In mid-2005 experts from the Urban Land Institute and the Rochester community cooperated in an effort to imagine a 're-created' Midtown site. The former Sibley's department store now houses a growing college campus environment, and interest in this pivotal area continues to be piqued by the proposed Renaissance Square Project. The third one, Chase Tower, continues to punctuate the city skyline.
